Rebecca Wellard

Research Associate

Rebecca Wellard completed her First Class Honors Degree at Monash University, Melbourne Australia. She researched the acoustics of two different species of cetaceans, the bottlenose dolphin and the common dolphin, in Victoria and assessed the impact of boat traffic on their communication and behavior.

She is now based out in Hong Kong (at Ocean Park), working on biosonar research, looking into behavioral and cognitive capabilities of bottlenose dolphins, and specifically their ability to recognize shape through echolocation.

She enjoys backpacking in remote places, getting lost, reading, diving and surfing (or trying to!)
