Ashley Lynn Benson

Research Assistant

Ashley studied Psychology and Communications at the University of Hawaii-Hilo, where she was first introduced to the complex world of dolphin acoustic and cognitive capabilities. Post graduating, she moved to the U.S. Virgin Islands to work with South American sea lions, before relocating to Singapore to pursue a career as a Marine Mammal Specialist at Dolphin Island/Marine Mammal Habitat, where she worked for 12 years.

Currently she is working with Matthias Hoffman-Kuhnt on acoustic research in bottlenose dolphins, the same projects that inspired her as a university student to pursue the dream of working with marine animals.

In her free time, Ashley enjoys spending time with her cats, training for fitness competitions and being a mermaid.
