Hou Pengkun

PhD Student

Pengkun completed her undergraduate degree in Computer Science at Beijing University of Posts and Telecommunications, and her Master of Computing at the National University of Singapore. She is currently a PhD student in Electrical and Computer Engineering at NUS, where her research focuses on dolphin-inspired 3D acoustic imaging. Her journey with ARL began during her final-year project, where she first encountered the fascinating world of dolphin bioacoustics. Since then, she has been applying machine learning techniques to better understand these marine voices.

Beyond research, Pengkun enjoys singing, photography, playing ukulele, Model United Nations, and doing Duolingo. She hopes to spare more time at concerts, sharpen her badminton skills, and squeeze in a few extra rounds of Splatoon.
